In Law 7 I thought it was very important how me mentioned the need for humans to express their feelings, adding “warmth”. We buy this simple and clean devises, such as a computer or ipod, but feel the need to add a toach of our own personality with a bright protective case or custom screensavers/backgrounds. We like this, and we need to take that in consideration when designing. With UI design, we can create an application that is simple and clean and lets your audience get the task done as fast as possible, but we need to think of customization. That is where the world is going, we have all this technology and creating all these “clones”, how do I distinguish my sleek technology from my neighbors?
In Law 8 it talks about the idea of trust. This directly related to our application when looking at the “Search by preference” section. We will display all of the different variables and our user can choose the importance of it, and whether or not they would like it to be a high or low number, for example Population. To help ease our user, we need to make sure that when clicking your preferences, nothing is final, and everything can be changed. We are thinking of having the user place and x next to something that is not an important factor. The x will make that variable fade…. but if you go through all the other preferences and decide to go back and make that important, there will be an option to bring back to the forground. Also, we would liek to be able to have the user freely move the order of each variable. So they can decide the rank of importance. This will instill a sense of trust in the user, and let them truly decide comfortably their preferences.
